The Kitchen - Coc Food Pantry & Soup Kitchen is a community-driven nonprofit dedicated to ending hunger and promoting wellness in Moulton, Alabama, and surrounding areas. Since our founding, we have served as a lifeline for families struggling with food insecurity by offering nutritious groceries, hot meals, free wellness resources, and a caring environment. Our community garden provides fresh fruits and vegetables, helping nourish our neighbors while bringing the community together. Volunteers, donors, and partners work hand in hand to provide more than just food - we provide dignity, respect, health, and hope.

Our inspiration: How it all started

The roots of CoC Food Pantry & Soup Kitchen run deep in family and faith. LaShundra Craig was inspired by her grandmother, Bessie Echols, who fed many in the community for free, showing firsthand the power of generosity and care. Her uncle, Johnny Echols, who served in Albany, Georgia, encouraged her and helped at the Lord's Pantry, reinforcing the importance of giving back.

LaShundra's own journey continued while working at Cracker Barrel, where she was introduced to the organization Feed My Lambs. Seeing how structured programs could make a real impact brought everything together- her family's example, her faith, and her own experiences inspired her to establish CoC Food Pantry & Soup Kitchen.

From that moment on, her mission has been clear: to ensure that no neighbor goes hungry, while providing dignity, care and hope to all who come through the doors.

About our services

At CoC Food Pantry & Soup Kitchen, we do more than feed our neighbors - we care for the whole community. We provide groceries and hot meals, fresh produce from our community garden, and free wellness support. Our chef-led cooking workshops teach families how to prepare healthy meals, while our volunteer programs and community events bring people together.
